# OG image size and dimensions \(2026\): what 1,000\+ real OG images use

> Use 1200×630 pixels \(1\.91:1\)\. Of 1,017 real OG images we measured, 38% are exactly 1200×630 and 69% use 1\.91:1\. Plus what X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack and iMessage document\.

- Data through 2026\-10\-28; 743 images from websites' og:image, 274 images from X link cards
- Size 1200×630: 390 images \(38%\)
- Size 2400×1260: 163 images \(16%\)
- Size 1920×1080: 44 images \(4%\)
- Size 1200×675: 42 images \(4%\)
- Size 2400×1256: 39 images \(4%\)
- Size 1200×628: 36 images \(4%\)
- Size 2400×1350: 26 images \(3%\)
- Size 1600×900: 21 images \(2%\)
- Ratio 1\.91:1 \(1200×630 and its multiples\): 704 images \(69%\)
- Ratio 16:9 \(1920×1080, 1200×675\): 193 images \(19%\)
- Ratio 2:1 \(1200×600\): 50 images \(5%\)
- Ratio Another ratio: 70 images \(7%\)
- Under 1200px wide: 55 images \(5%\)
- 1200–1599px wide: 553 images \(54%\)
- 1600–2399px wide: 145 images \(14%\)
- 2400px wide or more \(2× and up\): 264 images \(26%\)
- X \(Twitter\): The large image card \(summary\_large\_image\) is documented at a 2:1 ratio: at least 300×157, at most 4096×4096 pixels\. Files must be under 5 MB, in JPG, PNG, WEBP or GIF; only a GIF’s first frame is used, and SVG isn’t supported\. The small card \(summary\) is cropped to a square, at least 144×144\. Not documented: X no longer publishes its Cards docs \(they now redirect to docs\.x\.com\), and never documented how the timeline crops a 1\.91:1 image or the 2023 change that put the domain over the image\. Source: https://web\.archive\.org/web/20260112050218/https://developer\.x\.com/en/docs/x\-for\-websites/cards/overview/summary\-card\-with\-large\-image
- LinkedIn: Shared links use a 1\.91:1 image, at least 1200×627 pixels, up to 5 MB\. Images under 401 pixels wide show as a small thumbnail instead\. Not documented: LinkedIn doesn’t document how it crops a link image of another ratio\. Source: https://www\.linkedin\.com/help/linkedin/answer/a521928
- Slack: Slack’s link expander reads a page’s Open Graph and X Card tags, fetches the image to check it’s valid, and caches the result for about 30 minutes\. Not documented: Slack publishes no size, ratio, crop or file\-size rule for preview images\. Source: https://api\.slack\.com/robots
- iMessage \(Apple Messages\): Messages uses og:image as the preview image; use images at least 900 pixels wide\. Images under 150 pixels wide may be ignored or shown as an icon\. Apple advises against text in the image, because previews show it at varying sizes\. An og:video that points to a downloadable file, such as an MPEG\-4, is downloaded and played automatically in the preview; a stream \(HLS\) needs a tap, and a video that needs embedding HTML doesn’t play inline\. The page’s HTML is limited to 1 MB, and its images, icons and video to 10 MB in all\. Not documented: Apple gives no aspect ratio or crop rule, and calls its limits guidelines that may change\. Source: https://developer\.apple\.com/documentation/technotes/tn3156\-create\-rich\-previews\-for\-messages
- Facebook: Meta recommends at least 1200×630 for high\-resolution screens and at least 600×315 for large link previews; 200×200 is the minimum\. Keep close to 1\.91:1 so Feed shows the whole image without cropping\. Files can be up to 8 MB\. A secure og:video is eligible to play inline in Feed, but Meta doesn’t guarantee it will\. Not documented: Meta lists no supported image formats\. Source: https://developers\.facebook\.com/docs/sharing/webmasters/images/
